Langhe wine tour from Turin: a perfect day itinerary

What to see, eat and drink in a single day in the Langhe with a private driver: Alba, Barolo, La Morra, Barbaresco. Itinerary, timings, insider tips.

The Langhe are one of the most celebrated wine regions in the world, yet from central Turin they are barely an hour's drive away. That means you can taste the best of Alba, Barolo and the UNESCO-listed views in a single day — leaving in the morning and back for dinner.

In a private car with a driver, it's also relaxing: no driving after tastings, no parking hassle, total flexibility on the itinerary.

Suggested itinerary (8-10 hours)

9:00 — Departure from Turin

Pickup at your hotel or any address in town. Scenic drive into the Langhe, first stop mid-morning.

10:30 — Alba, the truffle capital

Walk through the historic centre, the Saturday market, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Casa Fenoglio. Coffee in Piazza Risorgimento.

12:00 — Barolo and a winery visit

Off to Barolo, capital of the king of wines. Visit the WiMu (Wine Museum) or head straight to a winery for a tasting of Barolo DOCG, Barbera and Dolcetto. We pick both historic estates and small artisan producers depending on your taste.

13:30 — Lunch at a trattoria

Classic Piedmontese cuisine: vitello tonnato, plin (tiny stuffed pasta), brasato al Barolo, bonet (chocolate-amaretto pudding). We work with selected trattorias where the value-for-money still feels honest.

15:30 — La Morra and the postcard view

La Morra has the most iconic Langhe vista: vineyards as far as the eye can see, the Sol LeWitt chapel, the Alps on a clear day.

16:30 — Barbaresco

A second tasting, this time dedicated to Barbaresco. More intimate winery, late-afternoon atmosphere.

18:00 — Drive back to Turin

Back at the hotel around 7 p.m. — perfect timing for an aperitivo before dinner.

Optional add-ons

  • Cherasco for truffles and chocolate
  • Castle of Grinzane Cavour (UNESCO)
  • Pollenzo and the University of Gastronomic Sciences
  • Serravalle Designer Outlet to combine shopping with tastings
  • Castle of Serralunga d'Alba

Best time to visit

| Season | Experience | | --- | --- | | Spring | Vineyards in bloom, mild weather, less tourism | | Summer | Long days, festivals, hotter and busier | | Harvest (September) | Most authentic experience, cellars in full action | | Autumn (October-November) | White truffle, spectacular foliage, Alba Truffle Fair | | Winter | Quiet, lower prices, focus on indoor cellars |

How many people, how much luggage

Our Mercedes-Benz Premium comfortably seats the whole group with day bags. Couples often pick the central seats for maximum comfort. For larger groups, we arrange tailor-made multi-vehicle setups.

Indicative cost

A private day Turin → Langhe → Turin with driver includes:

  • Mercedes-Benz Premium at your disposal for the whole day
  • Professional driver (sober behind the wheel — never tasting)
  • Fuel, motorways, parking
  • On-board water

Tastings and lunch are paid directly at the winery/restaurant since they vary by profile and booking. On request we can include them in a package at an agreed cost.

How to book

To secure a driver who really knows the territory, book at least 3-7 days in advance, especially on harvest weekends or during the Truffle Fair (October-November).
